Unless you want to really crank the system all the time, 35 watts per channel of good, clean power is plenty, for mids and tweets at least. My Alpine is 50 watts per channel, and that is not much more than 35, as it takes 10 times more watts to double the volume. As in 100 watts is twice as loud as 10, and then you have to go to 1000 watts to be twice as loud as 100. I have very, very rarely cranked my system to WOT, and then it will make your ears ring. You may be able to get more power for less money if you look around. I found my Alpine on clearance for $199, when it sold for $400-450 originally. Also, remember than 35 watts of power from a dedicated power amp is in reality a lot "more" power than 35 watts from a headunit. The amp has a dedicated power supply, larger gauge wiring, bigger heatsinks, bigger capacitors, etc. Go listen to a comparable amp in a car audio store to see how loud it will go, that wil give you an idea of weather it will be enough power for you. Do remember that with the T-tops out at speed, there is a lot of ambient noise to overcome in the Z though. Still, I've never had any problems with my 50 watts per channel.
